Adrien Tyberghein Trio featured on France 3 ahead of Tourcoing Jazz Festival!

As part of the Tourcoing Jazz Festival, Adrien Tyberghein and Nathan Péron were recently invited to France 3 Nord Pas-de-Calais to take part in a programme dedicated to the festival. A great opportunity to discover the world of bassist and composer Adrien Tyberghein, as well as the new project of his trio: ODYSSEY.

Joined by Nathan Péron on piano and Bastien Chauvon on drums and marimba, Adrien Tyberghein creates a true sonic journey with ODYSSEY. The project brings together contemporary jazz, classical music, oral traditions and rhythmic influences, in an approach where the boundaries between genres gradually dissolve.

At the heart of this exploration, the double bass becomes an instrument of transformation. Through bowing, pizzicato and extended techniques, Adrien Tyberghein moves seamlessly between rhythms, melodies, textures and percussive sounds. Nathan Péron’s piano and Bastien Chauvon’s percussion further enrich this constantly evolving musical universe, shaped by attentive listening, transitions and sound design.

Following their appearance on France 3, Adrien Tyberghein Trio will present ODYSSEY at the Tourcoing Jazz Festival on Tuesday, October 13, 2026 at 6:30 PM, at Maison Folie Hospice d’Havré.

The concert is part of this year’s festival programme, bringing together a diverse selection of artists from the contemporary jazz scene.

ODYSSEY is a project that explores the crossing of cultures through an open, contemporary jazz language, nourished by multiple influences: from oral and rhythmic traditions to writing rooted in classical and contemporary music. Conceived as a continuous sonic journey, Odyssey connects forms through a careful approach to transitions, textures, and sound design, creating a path rather than a succession of pieces.

At its core, Adrien Tyberghein’s double bass becomes an instrument of transformation. Through the bow, pizzicato, and extended techniques, it moves across roles; rhythmic, melodic, percussive, textural and harmonic, linking the different languages together. The trio (double bass, piano, drums) serves as the anchor point, around which various forms and presences come to attach themselves.

Through these different forms, ODYSSEY offers music in motion, grounded in listening, the circulation of roles, and the meeting of cultures and imaginations. Through music, it affirms a sensitive form of tolerance: one of coexistence between differences, mutual listening, and sharing.
