ODYSSEY is a project that explores the intersection of cultures through an open, contemporary jazz language, shaped by multiple influences – from oral and rhythmic traditions to writing inspired by classical and contemporary music.

Conceived as a continuous sonic journey, ODYSSEY connects forms through a focus on transitions, textures, and sound design, creating a pathway rather than a succession of pieces.

At its core, Adrien Tyberghein’s double bass becomes an instrument of transformation.
Through bowing, pizzicato, and extended techniques, it moves across roles: rhythmic, melodic, percussive, textural, and harmonic, bridging different musical languages.

The trio (double bass, piano, drums) serves as the anchor, around which various forms and presences unfold. Depending on the piece, guest musicians – trumpet, percussion, strings, voice – expand the sonic landscape and open up new narrative spaces.

Through these evolving forms, ODYSSEY offers music in motion, grounded in listening, the fluid exchange of roles and the meeting of cultures and imaginations. Through music, it affirms a form of sensitive tolerance: the coexistence of differences, mutual listening, and shared experience.
