Didier Laloy Symphonic : Didier Laloy, Orquesta Del Lyceum De La Habana, Conductor José Antonio Méndez Padron
Didier Laloy discovered the diatonic accordion at the age of 13, which opened the doors to an infinite musical and human universe for him. His first experiences led him to take an interest in world music, then French chanson and rock, and he made his stage debut at the age of 16. Since then, he has continuously allowed himself to be surprised and has explored various artistic fields such as theater, circus, and poetry, while participating in the recording of over 200 albums and performing worldwide.
To celebrate his 30-year career, with the artistic collaboration and passionate energy of Poney Gross (Zig Zag World), he is taking a moment to breathe and entrusting his repertoire to two great names in Belgian classical music, Jean-Luc Fafchamps and Gwenael-Mario Grisi. Together, they will rearrange for symphony orchestra the most iconic pieces from Didier’s career.
Additionally, under the direction of the Cuban record label Colibri, three talented young Cuban composers (Pepe Gavilondo, Jorge Amado, and René Baños) have created a new way to make the diatonic accordion sing, specifically for Didier.
The result of this project is an album recorded in Cuba with the Orquesta Sinfónico del Lyceum de La Havana, offering a unique and cinematic musical experience, full of surprising, tender, and festive moments. This exceptional creation is the rare product of the encounter between the diatonic accordion and the symphony orchestra, as well as the power, finesse, and originality of the arrangements inspired by Didier Laloy’s universe
