Biography of Didier Laloy

Didier Laloy discovered the diatonic accordion at the age of 13, which opened the doors to an infinite musical and human universe. His first experiences led him to be interested in world music, then in French song and rock, and he took his first steps on stage at the age of 16. Since then, he has never stopped being surprised and exploring different artistic fields such as theatre, circus and poetry, while participating in the recording of more than 200 albums and playing all over the world.

To celebrate his 30 years of career, thanks to the artistic complicity and the passionate energy of Poney Gross (Zig Zag World), he gives himself time to breathe and entrusts his repertoire to two great names of Belgian classical music,Jean-Luc Fafchamps and Gwenaël Mario Grisi. Together they will rearrange the most emblematic pieces of Didier’s career for symphony orchestra.

In addition, under the supervision of the Cuban record label Colibri, three talented young Cuban composers (Pepe Gavilondo, Jorge Amado and René Baños)  have created a new way of making the diatonic accordion sing, especially for Didier.

The result of this project is an album recorded in Cuba with the Orquesta Sinfonico Del Lyceum De La Havana, which offers a unique and cinematographic musical experience full of surprising, tender and festive moments. This exceptional creation is the result of the rare encounter between the diatonic accordion and the symphony orchestra, as well as the power, finesse and originality of the arrangements proposed around Didier Laloy’s universe.
